Buy a better router. I recommend mesh in your case, a couple TP Link DECO XE75 PRO for your case with 2Gbps fiber.

Is a wifi extender a good option?
A mesh system is the answer, if you can run a cable for back-haul that would be better. I have had really good luck with the TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro 3 pack for a 3 story house.

Correct! I have 2 of the TP-Link Deco XE75 PRO AXE5400 in my 2,331 sq ft house and they work great, which is the WIFI 6e version since I don’t have any WiFi 7 devices (for the price now it’s probably worth it to just get the 3 pack). If you have WiFi 7 devices, you could go with the Deco BE versions

Can I replace my ancient G1100 router with something better?

can anyone help me understand why the speediest on the Nest WiFi pro links good, but what it broadcasts is so shit?
I finally got rid of my Google Nest Wifi just for this reason. Went with a TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro system with 3 nodes - what a huge improvement!
