Mesh network device
I’ve been using TP Link Deco M5 for 4 years. I bought six, three are in my house, one is on my back deck, one is in a garage and one is in an outdoor boathouse. I was able to blanket my whole yard (3 different buildings) in a mesh. The three that are not in the house, have been exposed to outdoor am

Deco M5 - why not?
- I am aware that the Deco M5 is 8 years old now and don't want to suggest something that will stop receiving security updates in a couple of years. So why recommend something officially EOL? It doesn't get security updates. It' listed on the EOL products list. https://static.tp-link.com/upload/manual

Deco M5 upgrade
I’m also running the deco m5 for close to 10 years as well. I have asked myself this same question many times before Answer. If you isn’t broken don’t fix it Unless cash isn’t an issue then go for it.

Complete beginner - was TP-link deco M5 the wrong purchase?
Deco can absolutely work with an Ethernet backhaul. On one of your M5s, use one port to connect to WAN, and the other to connect to LAN. This is the Router Mode configuration. On the other M5, use one port to connect to the LAN. Because you bought a pack of three M5s, you can put a switch between th

1Gig in, 400mb over WiFi?
The Deco M5 has a maximum wifi speed on 5 GHz of 867 Mbps and the X20 max wifi speed on 5 GHz is 1201 Mbps. Both routers only have 1 Gbps Ethernet ports, so the more devices connected (wired and wireless), the slower your WiFi speeds. 600 Mbps or so is probably your best speed, especially since neit

Help with Screenbeam Moca 2.5 & TP Link Deco M5
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Appreciate it. My current Deco M5 setup is dated and due for a refresh. I just wanted to prove this out first before I went out and bought a better mesh. But - that was part of the plan eventually so I may do that and then see where all of this takes me. For no

New customer - deadspots
I have a couple of Deco M5 units but it looks like older tech / hardware when compared to the Linksys Velop WiFi 6 router that Toob provide. I'm wondering if I should plug in the Deco or just leave it as is. Its the garden at the back where my WiFi drops a bit but then again I'm not going to be in t

Take it back. Deco M5 is only AC/wifi 5… At least get Wifi 6 or 6E. All of the decos can work as a wired access point.

Deco M5 - why not?
The Deco M5 is cheaper but will likely need to be replaced sooner. There are affordable options that are newer than those and will last them longer.
