Too Many Options... Best NAS for Backup + Media Server
If you want a nice prebuilt, you could look at Ugreen or TerraMaster. Both are unlocked units and unlike Synology, you can use the OS and drives of your choice. In the 4 bay, I think the Ugreen DXP4800 (N100) for $499 or DXP4800 Plus (Pentium Gold 8505) for $595 is the best bang for buck. There is t

seeking advice for my first NAS? (beginner friendly)
The DXP2800 is a good choice as a starter NAS. Another good budget choice would be the Terramaster F2-425 or even the F4-425. Both are quite competitive in terms of price and performance and their software is more mature compared to UGreen's. Just make sure to select the largest HDDs your budget can

recommended mini desktop for unraid
I have this: https://www.terra-master.com/products/f4-424-max 12th gen 10-core Intel, 2xNVME, 2x10G Ethernet, 4x3.5 bays. It'll do the things. Runs UnRAID flawlessly.

Is Xpenology as unstable as people say it is?
I've been using Redpill since March in my TerraMaster F4-424 Max (using SA6400 profile), and I even stopped upgrading ARC at 1.3.1 (why would I want daily bootloader updates for a NAS?) with DSM 7.2.2 and it has been solid. No issues here except that the front LEDs don't work. The main thing to be w

Making room for the new CF56 PROs
UGreen for me by far was the easiest for me to understand and setup as a noob. When I started 18 months ago I knew nothing about network attached storage other than plugging in an external hard drive, and calling that a backup. I had only used Macs and PC computers, so learning a more complex OS lik

Anyone moved from Synology DS918+ to TerraMaster F4-424 Max? Got a few questions…
Based on the NAS Compares videos and the specs, I moved from the DS220+ to the F4-424 Pro. I won’t repeat specific answers already posted but here are a few notes: You can remote access in via the app or via a mechanism similar to Quick Connect. The latter is not nearly as slick as Synology. I minim

/var/log/syslog immediately fills after reboot to push "log filesystem" to 100%
Thank you for the suggestion. My hardware is a TerraMaster F4-424. I'll need to do a bit of research to find out what card might be loose I suppose. The NAS works fine - it just bugs me that the log fills to 100% almost immediately after booting up. And I'm guessing writing millions of errors isn't

/var/log/syslog immediately fills after reboot to push "log filesystem" to 100%
Just to close out this thread, I contacted TerraMaster with all the information and they agreed to swap out the defective machine. Because the F4-424 is backordered, they're sending me a returned F4-424 Pro, which is faster and has more base RAM. Thank you all for your help. Very much appreciated.

Looking to upgrade my Emby server
I use TerraMaster F4-424 Max with Intel Core i5-1235U (I changed the fabric OS to Unraid). After replacing memory with dual channels, I got access to Iris XE graphics instead of UHD. Great CPU for Emby and transcoding because it is powerful enough with low power usage. There is another NAS with this
