This is one question that doesn't seem to go away... Reddit has a serious hard on for the Technivorm Moccamaster, but I'm going to give you another recommendation - Bonavita. I own both, and both are SCA-certified and brew excellent coffee. However, the Bonavita wins for me for the following reasons

I have the thermal carafe KBT version and I actually brew into a chemex carafe because I feel like the moccamaster carafe makes the coffee taste metallic, which I don't like.

I agree, broken support. My KBT (similar design) also fits flush) Luckily OP can contact moccamaster with these pictures and request a warranty replacement of the broken part.

All of your gripes are 100% valid except number 1 which has already been explained. I would never pay full price for one and I had some buyer’s remorse at $200. I'll probably get hate mail for this, but for me the Moccamaster produces uneven extraction. I can close my basket (KBT) so to "fix" the issue, I do 3 cups of water to 18g coffee, let it steep 4.5 minutes and drain into a mug. perfect eveytime :)

Yes Technivorm needs to rethink the Moccamaster shower but I never had dry spots on my KBT. Ultimately I switched to an overly complex brew process but not because of dry spots.

Right. Regardless of which one you get, Its best to only make what you will drink in an hour or two. Then make another batch later. If you truly will have multiple people wanting coffee at random times per day and they won’t be drinking a whole or half pot within an hour I would go for a one cup typ
