Do you really think that Technivorm didn't think of that?!? It was designed this way to keep the bed agitated. Your grounds should be fine enough that the water backs up in the brew basket. This must be the most misunderstood aspect of the Moccamaster.

Based on your requirements, a Moccamaster seems like the best fit. Specifically the Optio or the KBGV Select. Another vote for the Technivorm Moccamaster. I've used lots of drip machines through the years and this one is my favorite. Wonderful coffee, no fuss, beautiful, built to last and if there is a problem it can be repaired.

I have a Moccamaster KBT for car travel. My air travel is a Outin Mino now. Just the most convenient as I can just have pods. No mess no fuss. I’ve used my Aeropress a few times but it’s inconvenient in comparison.
