Best drip coffee makers for home with no bells and whistles?
I'll be the first to say the usual answer of Technivorm Moccamaster. Literally only 2 switches, on/off and half/full brew. I really like mine, they're hand made, it's built like a tank and you get a lifelong warranty.

Wer billig kauft, kauft zweimal?

What makes the Technivorm Moccamaster so good ? Is it really that good ?
Not an expert or authority, but I have owned one (KBGT). It does brew very good coffee, but other coffee brewers out there can as well. The difference with the Moccamaster is that many people consider it a buy-it-for-life purchase. They are hand made (https://youtu.be/W8_NXtwr-qg). They maintain ide

Ok, so we bit the bullet... You guys were right. ☕ ☕
Most cheap coffee makers (and even some of the expensive automated ones) use the same heating element for the hot plate and to heat the water. That means they have to make a sacrifice both ways. Heating plate is too hot and cooks the coffee, but its not quite hot enough to get a proper extraction on

My disappointed perspective
This is a classic case of the Moccamaster hype muddying the waters about what it is. The Moccamaster is a well built vintage design that's main strength is it's simplicity and consistency. It uses parts that are easy to replace and are consistent with parts used decades ago. It heats water at the co

Gift not as expected.
Thats lame. How anybody can be unhappy with that gift is crazy. A moccamaster can and will last many, many years. The ninja will likely last a fraction of that. I was ecstatic when my wife gave me my moccamaster KBGV as a birthday gift. Whenever she asked me what I wanted, I'd would jokingly say to

Buy-it-for-life coffee makers can save money, reduce waste, brew better
Technivorm is one of the few companies still embracing a “repair it, don’t replace it” philosophy, too. Even if you start seeing issues after ~20 years or more, chances are you can get it repaired at a reasonable cost. Given how much coffee I drink, my refurbished Moccamaster has been one of the bes

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie?
The Technivorm Moccamaster coffee maker. I got tired of buying a new lesser one every year. I’m going on 10 years with mine and it’s still going strong.

Did any well-known companies in your country avoid “enshittification”? Are there still products with quality as good as 20–30 years ago? All I hear lately is that everything, especially food, has gone from great, good, or iconic to bad.
The Moccamaster coffee maker. It's built to last. My parent's one is lasting for 30 years and no sign of decline. They're still a sturdy, high quality, no frills machine to this day.
