Chinese shops and split keyboards

An AliExpress Corne or Sofle are often suggested as entry keyboards. I’d be tempted by a smaller one like the Forager. Assuming they’re following the published designs building your own firmware is worthwhile.

Thinking about a split ergonomic keyboard - Any cheap options to test?

IMHO, the Sofle is the easiest keyboard to transition to from a full keyboard. I was in the same boat and after much research decided on it. IMHO, the more keys the better as you learn what you need and what you don't. It's easy to just not use keys. I'm debating a cheap Ali Sofle Choc keyboard for

Best keyboard for small hands

If you would prefer more keys over fewer keys, you can look for Sofle V2 as well. It often has Choc keys, which are low profile. If you look on Etsy you're more likely to find high quality builds that are flashable, but also will be more expensive than on Aliexpress. I personally recently built a Te

Please help me figure out why my Sofle from the ergomech.store is lagging

Oh hey, I thought you would be on vacation :o early happy Lunar New Year! Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't have the tools nor the skillset for that. The peak of my keyboard building skill is putting switches in the hot-swap socket. That's why I chose to buy the Sofle Hybrid from your store. It

The Go60 could've looked so much better

I want this keyboard very badly! My ergo journey: Generic staggered split w membrane switches on a single board and a bigass enter with PS2 connector. I used the hell out of this one until it finally gave up the ghost. Kinesis Advantage 2. Could never get used to the keywells. Mistell Borroco MD600.

Help Me Pick My First Ergo Mech Split Keyboard!

I recently bought a Sofle (my first mechanical and first split). Here are my thougts after 1.5 months: Print the keyboard on a sheet of paper to see whether it fits your hands size. In retrospective, I wish that the Sofle had a more aggressive column stagger. Now, I would buy a different one (maybe

Wooting’s Macro Support is a Joke. Where’s the REAL Software We Deserve?

Valid points maybe but I think one board for all things is nigh impossible unless you build a custom hall effect and can get good latency. Even then they're still going to eventually cripple you if you have decent WPM and type for work. Suggest you buy a split keyboard and keep your hall effect for

How do I make the transition to fewer keys?

I was already using a 75% keyboard, so for me the transition is probably easier. However, with layer you can easily recreate the equivalent of numpad, and assign useful symbol or shortcut to each keyi.e. letter O is also ~ and _You may need time to arrange each symbols, but the improvement is enormou

Where do I begin.

If you want something pre-built for starters, there are many keyboards - e.g. Silakka54 and various takes on Sofle can be bought for pretty cheap and are a great way to dip your toes in columnar stagger. And then you can later move on to/build a fancier keyboard once you have a better idea of how ma

Looking for a split keyboard

[ad] If you’re looking for a solid first split keyboard that’s ergonomic and well-built, I recommend the Redox_FT or Sofle. Both are available fully assembled from my workshop – in either wired or wireless [ZMK] versions. You can choose between classic Cherry MX profile switches or low-profile Kailh
