Flashed Arc Loader 3.0.9 while waiting for new NAS parts: what DSM for SA6400?

Just go with the latest 7.2 from the synology download site. 7.3 will work on the SA6400 with a modified kernel. Honestly not worth it at the moment - 7.3 doesn't offer anything significant over 7.2.

Installing xpenology on Ugreen 2800 (questions)

Updated the Synology model to SA6400 and everything works beautifully, including read/write caching. Wish I had looked into this much sooner - the full functionality of Synology DSM on the hardware of the Ugreen Nas is just awesome.

NAS HP GEN8 ET HP N54L XPENOLOGY ARC DSM 7.3

Which model synology are you running? The latest ARC will work if you choose SA6400 - but you have to select the custom kernel option. Generally, best stick to 7.2 until synology release the code to get 7.3 running properly.

switching to sa6400 from ds918+ on an 8th gen intel i7 8700 procesessor?

I went for the SA6400 with a new computer build with an i5-13500 and it's running great. I've got Proxmox on top and Synology DSM in a VM with latest Arc Loader beta and no issues so far.

Where is the synology OS installed actually? Is it on the usb drive similar to unraid? *** DSM is installed on a separate dedicated partition of every HDD that is part of a RAID volume in your system. If not, how can I control that the synology OS is installed to my selection of SSD drive? *** You cannot

Xpenology setup

Choose SA6400 since it's based on the most recent kernel. And IMHO it will be best to install it baremetal or in Proxmox or similar. When installed properly the system is indistinguishable from an original Synology box. And has everything that an original Synology box will offer you - easy of use, m

I will probably leave Synology for good.

Most people don’t realize that this isn’t a new thing invented by Synology or new to Synology products. The enterprise products have been this way for a while now. 4 years without issue at 15 sites in the world. Dozens of models from 1818 to SA6400. Zero Synology branded drives. Talk to my Syno Rep

What model synology are you using? Did you try the SA6400? It has pretty broad hardware support.
