Dear Bob, I need help. NAS setup

well - Synology has removed the DS1821+ from their website, so I cannot tell you what is the largest supported drive. On the current models - DS1823xs+ and DS1825+, they are only officially supporting Synology drives, not Seagate or Western Digital or Toshiba. There were some drives that were suppor

UNAS 2 and UNAS Pro 8 Review is done. Need Your help!

I think one of the main differences between somebody looking at a Unifi NAS and somebody looking at a QNAP or Synology NAS is in what they want out of their NAS. Are they looking for storage, or are the looking for a home server? The QNAP, Synology, UGREEN, etc, cater to those that want one box on t

NAS for Small Editing Team with a quirk?

I wasn't sure if this was a QNAP forum, or the editors forum, when I got this notification. No matter what I say - I wind up insulting someone - perhaps I will wind up insulting you. This is the editors forum. It is for professional editors. Professional editors are not using iPhones and GoPro camer

NAS Setup for video editing : Is the DS1825+ with DSM 7.3 safe for third-party drives now?

I'm aware of that and honestly I would've gone with QNAP TVS H1288x following your recommendations but it costs $4400 here, diskless VS $1600 USD for the Synology DS1825+

Decade-old Xpenology running DSM 6.2 gave up the ghost and I'm in a time crunch. What are my options?

Exactly. See comparison between UGREEN NASync DXP8800 Plus and DS1825+ here. You can use Xpenology on Aoostar NAS. Or on your own build/hardware. Whatever you choose. I would highly recommend ARC loader since it's modern, versatile and easy to use. Take a look at it's FAQ and you'll see. IMHO whatev

Good gifts for a plex hobbyist?

How flexible? Because if they don't have a NAS yet, it is a game changer. I would recommend a Synology DS1825+ for a beginner.

Ohhhhhh, so you mean running Xpenology on a UGREEN NASync DXP8800 Plus. That's interesting. It looks like it costs a couple hundred $CAD more than a DS1825+, though the CPU is much better. I'm guessing I would need to set up whatever the current bootloader (Arc?) is, and then install my drives? Woul

UNAS Pro + Video Editing?

if you want a 6 drive system - buy a QNAP TVS-h674. Want an 8 drive system - buy a TVS-h874 or Synology DS1825+, DS1823xs+. Want Ubiuqiti only - then wait. Want to only spend $499 - $799 - then I can't help you. I know exactly how much money professional video editors make, and spending the money to
