UGREEN NASync DXP4800 Plus, Sinology DS925+ y QNAP TS-462, cual comprar?
I would say choose between the Synology and UGREEN NAS. As an overview.. If you're looking for a mature OS, Synology has that. Synology also has important apps like a surveillance app (Surveillance Station) and a backup app (Hyper Backup). The hardware for Synology is usually old and not very powerf

Which 4 bay again?
The overall best two Synology models to consider that are 4 bay and decently priced, with good overall options, would be the DS925+ and the DS923+. The DS925+ would rank as better imo because it's newer. Otherwise both have similar specs. For example, the DS925+: CPU: AMD Ryzen V1500B 4-core 2.2 (ba

Synology 4-bay vs UGREEN 4-bay, hardware vs software, but how about SECURITY
I could have written this exact post myself yesterday before deciding on ordering a new DS925+ and the Synology +8GB ECC expansion RAM and (2) WD RED Plus 10TB drives (to start). I kept thinking…I could save money with a UGREEN…I can figure out how to lock it down…I can ignore, and not think every d

Synology 4-bay vs UGREEN 4-bay, hardware vs software, but how about SECURITY
I bought the (Synology RAM DDR4 ECC SO-DIMM 8GB (D4ES01-8G)). Others have bought non-Synology and Non-ECC RAM (see the big RAM thread on the Synology subreddit where people share non-Synology/cheaper RAM they bought that works or not). Non-ECC may be OK most/some of the time, but the warnings agains

First NAS for photos/video, Plex/Jellyfin, remote access & multi-user — 2-bay vs 4-bay advice?
I just finished setting up my NAS as well for similar use cases as yours. Did a ton of research and second guessing, but here’s where I ended up: Get a 4 bay NAS. It just gives you so much flexibility for your setup and future. I got the DS925+. Was planing to get DS923+ but after Synology walked ba

What good NAS can I buy?
I've set up NAS boxes for a lot of people over the years, so here's what I'd recommend: If you're on a tight budget (~$300):UGREEN DH4300 Plus. Yeah, it's ARM, but hear me out—I was skeptical too until I deployed like a dozen Docker containers on it. Thing runs surprisingly stable. Way better than t

Advice about upgrading my data hoarding storage (my first NAS)
Thanks for your reply. My post wasn't about switching—currently I don't have a NAS. I was just a Synology fan based on reviews, but I am not happy with some of their latest decisions (e.g., HDD vendor lock). What do you mean by "powerful processor"? Yes, I know the Celeron isn't overpowered, but I c

UniFi UNAS 2 is hot trash - Do not buy. SMB/Network drops and poor performance.
But why in the world would they knee-cap it with a USB -> Ethernet adapter? They're notorious for being flaky. Not anymore. Synology example: The DS923+ still has a huge number of fans who prefer it over the DS925+ because, while the 23 comes with 1GbE and the 25 comes with 2.5GbE, the 23 supports 1

Wanting a small 2-bay setup for a home server between my Mac and Windows computers
If it is a DS423+, yes. If it is a DS423, then no. The DS925+ is good too. The UGreen DXP4800, the DXP4800 Plus, and their newest DXP4800 Pro are all x64 cpu based NAS models, so all should keep you satisfied for a long time. Which brand to pick? That's a matter of preference and priority. The Synol

Newbie Looking For Help Selecting
Get yourself either a 2-bay Synology DS225+ or a UGreen DXP2800, and forget about changing the OS idea. And if your budget allows it, consider the 4-bay boxes like the DS925+ or the DXP4800. The extra bays allow you to expand your storage later. The choice between these brands hinges on whether you
