N100 vs DS220+
I had everything running on a DS720+, I moved it all to a N100 and very happy I did. Everything is just smoother. Also all my downloads are happening on that machine. I now only use the synology for storage and cloud sync. Not a single Docker is running on it anymore.

Based on your description and my experience: Don’t bother with BSD based software because it just adds overhead since Linux will be a VM. So maybe OVM but not TrueNAS for instance.
