The Sony a6700 is huge in my small female hands having come from the nex 5n, a6000 and ZV-1 lol. I do still have my Nikon DSLR cameras and lenses so of course it's smaller than that, but I'm still amused when people talk about the a6700 and Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 lens ( which I also have ) as " a very c

My Sony NEX-5 doesn’t seem bigger than my Olympus, but that’s an old Sony with no viewfinder.

The Sony NEX 5 is good for shy people. It hangs around your neck and the screen flips up, but it doesn't have a viewfinder. I generally liked them

I love my DSLRs, but in OP's shoes, I would be considering an older Sony mirrorless, like a Nex 5 or A3000. They're pretty tiny for interchangeable lens cams, have APS-Csize sensors and the lenses can be had fairly cheap if you're patient.

I picked up a Sony NEX-5 recently as a side camera and it’s pretty stellar for the age and price, very small and easy to use, if you get the pocket flash for it tho it has a maximum 1/160 shutter speed so keep that in mind for fast moving sets

Canadian eh...? My local Facebook marketplace frequently has Sony Nex series kits coming up for the range you're talking about. Sure they are older cameras and compared to the high ISO of a new Sony or Canon SLM... okay there's no comparison. BUT they are super small and still have an APS-c sensor.

A couple of years ago I bought a second hand Sony NEX-5T with a kit lens for 115 Euro and I still see them now and then for that price, so that's around 100 pounds. It's an oldie by now, I think 14 years, but still a quite capable camera. It's okay for landscape photography, good for street photogra

That’s what I use mirrorless for. My Sony NEX-5T with the 20mm pancake is not a heck of a lot bigger than a premium compact, and is actually slimmer than something like a Canon G12. But it has an APS-C sensor, just no viewfinder.
