Is Sony still the low light king?

i shot northern lights with the A7s II and felt the same about that noise reduction. the FX3 and A7s III are better but still have some of that digital feel in shadows. for organic noise the Panasonic GH5S or S5 II actually give you a more filmic grain structure in low light. also look at the Nikon

Is the upgrade from fx30 to fx3 worth it?

I have an FX3, FX30, A7V and A7IV and I’d say go for the A7V. A7V has better AF better, better Ibis, is cheaper, sharper image, allows you to import viewing luts, better screen, allows smart AF while in clear image zoom. 8000 base ISO is a lot more practical then 12,800 and having to ND or stop down

What’s the difference in an Arri Alexa and a Sony fx3? In terms of the image.

Easy part dynamic range colour accuracy. Alexa's is s35 Vs fx3 is full frame so the fx3 has a shallower depth of field unless you stop the lens down to match the s35 Subjective part the arri has a very organic image Vs Sony's digital image. And noise pattern is more filmic on a Alexa Vs a Sony

FX3 price drop is inevitable right?

I can’t see the new specs and modern features somewhere you will need them but I still don’t see beat the fx3 low light anywhere ..fx3 still selling all the sensors you are looking to made from Sony they don’t interested about you they interested about sales if they still sale they don’t care the do

FX3 price drop is inevitable right?

it's mainly maintained it's price point due to popularity and branding, and right now there are a lot of new cameras in that price range that have the fx3 beat in the majority of categories. resolution, frame rates , open gate, IBIS, codecs, hybrid performance, low light, etc. but none of them eithe

/r/videography Monthly Camera Buying Advice Megathread

Is Sony still best for extreme low light? I'm a bit out of the loop on the performance of the recent cameras, because I have been working mostly in post-prod. A few years ago, I filmed some auroras with a Sony A7s II and while I was impressed with the low light performance, I disliked the NR treatme

Returning my FX30 - What's the right upgrade from GH5 for event/social media work?

You are me... Shot on the GH5 with 18-35 for years. Love the image and set up, DPs and producers thought I was shooting on a Red. But it obviously has some limitations. I got hired for a project that for me justified an upgrade, but like you didnt want to shell out a bunch of money. I ended up pulli

Buy FX3A now or wait for FX3 II (god knows when)?

The FX3 is great but you yourself are worried about a new version releasing, and I would be too. It's 5 years old and in many ways a Nikon ZR for 1/2 the price is a better camera. You should also consider that camera with an adapter so you can use your Sony glass. The A7V has better AF and a more de

Torn between two cameras!! Sensor size, low light, and post cleanup?

Look I'm open to other perspectives and if these cameras truly didn't have a second native ISO I'd want to know. That being said, this article doesn't even say anything about the FX3 and FX6 second native ISO being just noise reduction, if anything this proves otherwise, saying: "The Sony FX3 and FX

Considering trading FX6 for FX3

Hey, I empathize with your situation and strongly recommend against selling or trading your FX6. It’s one of the most sought-after Sony cameras for a reason. It offers professional capabilities in a compact setup. I’ve been filmmaking for 13 years and waited for a camera like the FX6. I bought it wi
