Does this sound like a fair deal?
Looking at just numbers, it's not worth it. Honestly look at the numbers, $30/hr x 5hrs = $150. The cost of renting from your local camera store, the most newest camera (canon r5 or sony a7siii) is about that much or likely higher. You're basically working for fun or loss.

FX30 or FX3 or something else?
An S1ii costs less than an FX3 and outperforms it. If I didn't have Sony glass I'd take that over an FX3 or FX30 any day (I'm still shooting Sony with over 1k paid gigs done on an a7siii/FX3 so not a Panasonic shill, just being objective)

Should I upgrade firmware from 2.0 to the newest?
The newer firmware versions can break wireless and audio features on a subset of Sony cameras. These issues have impacted the A7S III, FX3 and other Sony models. Most cameras update without issue. Some do not. It is not a user issue, it's a Sony issue. The impacted cameras work perfectly on the 2.x

New A7s III firmware update 5.0
SMH! 🤦🏻♂️ Exactly my thoughts. Sony, WTH? The FX3 is the exact same camera inside its enclosure. Same hardware, same core firmware, same everything. This means that Sony has already written the code for shutter angle on this camera. They only need to permit A7S III owners to have it.

New A7s III firmware update 5.0
It’s market segmentation. The same argument was made about the FX3 receiving shutter angle and anamorphic support. Some said it would never happen, as Sony was using the differentiation to push buyers to the FX6, a camera at nearly twice the price. But eventually, Sony relented. The FX3 received shu

Seeking advice on my gear roadmap
Yeah, haha, I borrowed the name from Sony, I wasn't sure what else to call it. The problem with the A7S III is that it costs twice as much as the Sony FX30. I got my FX3 through a discount, making it much cheaper than the A7S III. Also, the photos that camera takes are only 12MP; the Sony A7 IV take

"Stumbled" into shooting music gigs - need advice on gear and software
I don't have anything to offer in terms of what you should charge as that will depend heavily on local rates in your area, but I would definitely recommend checking out the ZV-E1 as your second camera. It has the same sensor and processor as the much more expensive A7SIII or FX3, and has far and awa

Sony admits A7S III firmware updates are breaking features
I updated my A7S III to firmware version 3.02 a while back, and it definitely seemed to make autofocus worse with my non-native Sigma 24–70mm lens. Before the update, I could point the camera at almost anything and it would quickly know what to focus on and lock in. After the update, it started stru

The Sony FX2 Fascinates Me
Every FX camera is an overpriced version of a "photo style mirrorless" camera. A sony one even. The FX3 is literally a "overpriced A7sIII". Why is this suddenly a critique point with specifically the FX2?
