Ricoh’s GR IV launches in September for a much steeper price than its predecessor. What was a $900 camera in 2019 is now a $1,500 one in 2025.
I understand the appeal of the form factor, but these prices are just ridiculous now. You can get a full frame Sony A7C and a lens for the same price as this (Yes, I know the A7C is older, but still.)

Can you guide me to an alternative portable camera for travel?
The problem is unless you go with the Fuji medium formal camera it's line-up have cropped sensors. So while you want "something nice and light for photo", are you OK with that? You were impressed with the Sony A7C. but it's a full frame sensor. Sound like ideally your backup camera is an R8. Did you
