Hobbies have too much depth now
I 2nd this. Buy an old Sony Nex or Fuji mirrorless and slap a vintage Nikon or Canon MF lens on it from the 70s-80s via a $9 adapter. When i bought my A7Rii new a decade ago, I didn't have the money for the 1st party lenses available and so I exclusively used Fujica and Minolta SR mount lenses for t

Anyone Switch From an A7IV to a Z6III or Z8?
I have beaten this drum to death by now but I went A7R2 -> Z7II w/Viltrox E-Z for about 4 months. Mid June sold the Z7II for a Z8. I shared your sentiment for disdain towards spending a metric ton just to shoot decent FPS on Sony, not to mention CFe A vs B. Ultimately it was a mix of that, having to

No more DLSR scans for me!
I had several film scanners in the past - among them a Nikon Coolscan 8000, a Reflecta MF5000 and last but definitely not least an Imacon Flextight 646 (good old times around 2010, when professionals sold their equipment dirt cheap, because they all switched from film to digital). I sold the Imacon,

Should I sell my X100VI and A7IV for an M240?
You can tell by the responses... It's a very personal thing. I will disagree with people saying the x100 is simply better for street. The M240 will only ever miss a shot if you fuck it up. In my book, that makes it perfect for street. It's all you. I've been on the M240 for years. Other cameras come

Selling the A7CII for a Fuji ie X-E5. Anyone else made a similar jump?
I used Sony for years. Never liked editing but just accepted it as a tradeoff for autofocus. I used the A7C and A7Rii. Loved them both, but just did not want to edit anymore. I picked up an X-E1 just to "see," you know? Within a year I had jumped around and settled on a 12 year old M240. What I saw

If you had to rebuy into an ecosystem in this year what would you choose?
I switched from Canon to Sony about 4 years ago and am perfectly happy with Sony, although I regularly contemplate buying a vertical grip just to get more comfortable ergonomics. If I'm being brutally honest, I'm not longer thrilled (my level of happiness decreased from about a 9.5 to a 7) with my 1

Seeking lense advice
Neither is going to just get you that. I mean both can get you eye details and such sure... But the focal depth is razor thin. What you posted is stacked. Get the Sony if you plan to run about snapping bugs on the go. AF and IS make quick shots much easier. A top flash with diffuser will let you sto

Full Frame as a hobbyist?
if you want better quality and like FF lenses specially vintage ones its worth it. if you want the newest models they are expensive but if you dont need great autofocus or fast shooting, there are many great full frame mirrorless camera choices you can get used for under 1000$. sony a7iii/a7rii, can

Leica Q2 vs Sony a7cii and prime lenses
I have a Q3 and a A7rii but have used the a7cii In terms of technical performance the Sony will be superior. Auto focus: Sony by far Image quality: the Q’s lens is impressive. But so are the Sony lenses. Only real difference here is the larger size of the comparable Sony lenses and the fact that the

Z7 —> Z8 Is it worth it?
Went from a Sony A7R2 I had for several years to the Z7II earlier this year. Went to an air show in June with it and I'd been considering pulling the trigger on it. The blackout at 10fps was so insane causing me to miss shots I'd have otherwise gotten. Returned home from the trip and by the end of t
