Coming from "smartphone photography" – is MFT a good starting point?
Video is where your expectations will get ruined. You need a very good camera to compete with a phone for autofocus, auto exposure, scene recognition, etc. I tell people to not even bother unless one of the following applies. You’re willing to learn a LOT. The vast majority won’t do this FYI. Video

Should I get the Sony a6600 or a6700 as my first camera?
The 55-210 isn’t a good lens, I’d avoid that tbh. The 18-300 isn’t exceptional either but considering it’s a superzoom lens it’s more forgivable. If you want a dedicated wildlife telephoto lens, the sony 70-350 is a great option. I’d go second hand in any case, and while the a6700 has some nice upgr

Is Ricoh GR just better?
GRs are super portable, so you are inclined to take it to more places, take more photos and create more chances to take good picture. However, these are niche cameras with dogshit video quality, fairly slow fixed prime lens and mediocre at best autofocus - old Nikon D750 blows it out of the water an

APS-C for macro?
I'll start this off by clarifying I only have experience with Sony & Olympus / OM systems. I've tried to use the Sony A6700 and the Sony 90mm for handheld insect macro photography and eventually gave up. The sensor readout time and buffer were too slow for my style of photography. I ended up going w

Why Lumix G95/G90 is not mentioned frequently as G85?
Because the G95 was launched at $1200 with 12-60mm kit lens, which was around the price of a used G9, a more capable camera all around. Moreover, MOST people do not need unlimited recording, so they were totally fine with 10 minutes limit on 4K 60p & 29 minutes on 4K 30p on the G9. And people who di

What gear do you use to make your YouTube videos?
Sony a6700 with a Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 lens, two led panels for lighting, a rode videomic go II mic on a boom arm. Cooking videos. A slider for smooth end product footage, but I regret having bought it, I almost never use it.

Sony A7C vs a6700 -- is it worth the extra money?
If you want a more compact setup, need more reach (wildlife, birding), plan to shoot video or use third-party strobes - get A6700. It's arguably the best APS-C on the market, and it is great. The sensor readout speed is amazing for video, and it has a proper full-mechanical shutter so you won't have

Planning my next camera for 2026, what should I be looking at?
What are you shooting? Events, wildlife, sports, …? Is camera weight a consideration? How many megapixels do you think you need / what quality video do you need? On the Nikon side the Z8 is top of the line and pretty much unbeatable on the market imho. Amazing low light performance, incredible autof

Coming from "smartphone photography" – is MFT a good starting point?
Maybe I phrased it a bit too strongly. I’d still have my smartphone with me anyway, and also something like a DJI Osmo Pocket , which already gives me decent video quality. So video would be more of a nice-to-have for me if the camera can handle it reasonably well – but my main focus is definitely p
