I think this is because nobody really knows how to use the RAW workflow. Some do, many don't. Many don't spend enough time to understand the way a camera's dynamic range is even used. The Sigma fp when processed well seems to have more than enough dynamic range. Again, if you know how to expose the

I moved from the BMPCC6K Pro and Sigma FP to an FX3 and A7IV. The FP and 6K Pro both have stronger IQ than the FX3, which is why I originally got them, but I was running into a lot of issues as a solo filmmaker and content creator. Trying to film myself or any subject with non autofocusing cameras w

The Sigma FP has internal RAW recording since many updates ago, you just need high-speed SD cards (I'm actually shooting 12-bit internal RAW with some v60 cards and it works fine). Coming from a Magic Lantern 5D MKII, it feels like a nice upgrade to me. No more fighting with Magic Lantern randomly r

In its minimalism it has great character - especially in times where everything (my iPhone, for example) is overflowing with so much junk you can't find what you need any more. "the feeling os using something that is well made and just works" agree to that. We need that expression of the analog mind

There are some options. It depends on your needs. For the native mount mainly Panasonic and Leica lenses. But you can even get IS with adapted EF-lenses. There can be FPs found for around 700-800$ locally. Check out the Sigma FP user groups on Facebook. The used prices have gone up since they discon

I’d agree with this as someone who owns and uses both. Though my FX3 is an order of magnitude more useful than the Sigma and the kind of things that I’m grabbing. The reason being I can push a lot more out of the FP given I have the proper attachments with me and have time set out for post work. Whi

For shoting short clips like you described its best camera, there are many chanels on youtube which was shoted by fp (The Flow Owl, cozy movies etc) Card as lexar 1800/2000x must be enough to shot HD cDNG 12bit 50/60p (especially 10-15 sec). 512 gb is capable for 40-45 min of footage HD50p 12 bit or

Yes you're right, but I'm mainly talking about modern movies. I 100% agree that 2k is enough, but you just won't find a lot of modern cameras that can do this in Raw whilst still offering s35 or larger. Again, sigma fp or bmcc og are your best bets. Maybe bmpcc og as well. I think going 4k and downs

Since you are influenced by Yedlin, one important point to consider is that he uses Arri, which means uncompressed raw. Once you add lossy compression, the shape of grain and the finest details are already modified, if subtly. Braw is lossy (and also not really raw, but this is another story). And y

I mean, it is an answer to the question. I said switch to BRAW because there's no reason to deal with lossless file sizes anywhere in the pipeline if you're not going to master in lossless. the rest of the answer was an extrapolation from that, once you switch off of CDNG the sigma FP becomes substa
