For me the Verite open/closed is closest to the 800s in tonality and detail/leanness/airiness. For the hd600 it would be the auteur classic. Are heavily discounted 650 from established stores something common?
Not uncommon; they’re old and the markup/margin on them is pretty substantial. Sennheiser also discounts them pretty heavily themselves and it’s possible the store matched it and is just slow to reset. Also the existence of the 6XX makes 650 pricing extra odd.
