Headphones for making and mixing

Sennheiser hd 600 for mixing/mastering. Hd 25 for any mic-based recording because the hd 600 are open so there’s too much bleed

Headphones

I use open back headphones (Sennheiser HD 600) because they let your ear breath somewhat compared to your typical sealing over-ear headphones. It does take some time getting used to the sound if it's you've never tried them. I do use earbuds when needed but not for long periods. Sometimes, I will on

Compensate for the frequency response of headphones using the equalizer

Invest in proper headphones. Frequency response doesn't stay the same across the entire dynamic range. If there's a bump or scoop in your response and you try to compensate with EQ, the sound may be even at, say, quieter levels, but not at louder ones. I'm a staunch advocate for the Sennheiser HD600

Does the Sound Quality for a Digital Piano sound Worse when using Headphones compared to Speakers?

Assuming I buy a nice pair of headphones, will the sound quality suffer from using headphones compared to listening to the onboard speakers? No. Nothing you can pick up and carry is going to have sound as good as a good pair of headphones. If your roommates occupy the same room as you, be aware that

HDB 630 Vs HD 600/other open backs?

If someone is looking for outright sound quality, an HD 600/650 will still be overall better than the HDB 630 for most people. The HDB 630 has a rather inconsistent response from person to person, and based on the position you wear them. This is due to its closed back nature, and a lack of DSP trans

HD 620s headband replaceable?

It does, though the system sadly utilizes glue/adhesive to stick it on. Unlike the pretty simply clip system of the HD 600/650, or the button system of most beyerdynamic models. Also, you'll have to email/call Sennheiser to see if they have any, since it seems they don't offer it on their spare part

Trying to decide if HDB 630 are worth it over Sony XM6

I've still got my HD 600 headset I bought in 1997. The HDB 630's remind me a lot of them, but I've had them about 2 weeks, so take that into consideration. Sound signature is similar between the 600 & 630. The 630 may have a little less sound stage, but we're splitting hairs and it's due to the clos

Open back recommendations

By far one of the best open back headphones. I've got my original 1997 Sennheiser HD-600, which this listing is a derivative of (modified HD-650 to be precise). Not the easiest to drive, but well worth it. https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-sennheiser-hd6xx#signupv2

Sennheiser HD 280 Pro vs Vic Firth SIH3 Stereo Isolation

This exactly. I had the sennheiser HD 600's and while the sound was fantastic, open back headphones should never be used on an eKit. Once I made the switch, it was a night and day difference and I can actually play with Dynamics while not hearing the thunking of the pads. So much better.
