I am using the 4tb Samsung 990 Evo plus which I got on sale for $190. Temps around 35-45°C. I also put a thin copper heatsink. It's been almost 9 months since the SSD upgrade and Everything works great.

I think for you here the Ryzen 9 5950x is the best option with its massive multi-core power.That is assuming you often work with high track count orchestral templates. SSD: Samsung evo is a great drive with good sustained read/write speeds, added a cheaper sata drive for less commonly used templates

looks can be deceiving with those MSI boards. the second slot under the chipset heatsink is actually a standard M.2 2280 size, same as the first one. it just looks shorter because the cover is smaller. you can fit any full-size NVMe drive in there. for a secondary game drive, i'd grab something like
