If you boot Proxmox from an SSD, disable these two services to prevent wearing out your drive
i boot from Samsung 970 pro SSD it still has 97% life after 2+ years i did nothing special in terms of logs etc these articles came from a set of scaremongering reddit and forum posts from mainly one individual also people confuse their samsung drive issues with proxmox issues (there was a particula

Rewrite Cycles?
Google sounds a bit off. An ssd like the samsung 970 pro that uses MLC nand has a tbw rating of 600 for a 512gb drive. So about 1170 full drive cycles. The 980 pro uses TLC nand and that has a tbw rating of 300 for the 512gb. Thats about 585 full drive cycles. Ssds use higher quality nands than memo

Low Usage SSD Gone bad - Is this normal
The value 0x4 in the first attribute, Critical Warning, means the 3rd bit is set (bit 2). "If this bit is set to ‘1’, then the NVM subsystem reliability has been degraded due to significant media related errors or any internal error that degrades NVM subsystem reliability." - NVMe specifications. [Asked GPT for a theme] Arcade Champion Companion
Yep, sadly. Originally I wanted to get the Steam Machine (aka GabeCube XD) and sell the Steamdeck again but after having seen the price? Yeah, no... Storage-wise I might be good? I managed to snatch a Samsung 970 Pro EVO with 2 TB a few years back during Black Friday on Amazon (currently using it as

First gaming pc build (recommendations or changes appreciated)
If you do buy used, I only recommend buying from eBay under these conditions: Seller has a high rating, 100% positive Seller has a lot of ratings, generally safe number imo is 100+. Be sure to look over their reviews under the "As Seller" tab. Make sure the item has eBay guarantee on it When you rec

Man!! I should have tried Dolphin a long time ago! No diss Nemo but goodbye...
The lack of RAM shouldn’t be an issue for me, am currently running 64GB of DDR5-6000 M/T, CL 30, on an ASRock 670E Steel Legend with Ryzen 7 9700X & still using my 512GB Samsung 970 PRO NVMe SSD, even though I have a 1TB Samsung 9100 PRO waiting. Didn’t change the SSD because it still has over 80% l

Goodbye to Legendary... Say Hello to the underdog!
Yeah, as in the prev. Z170 postings I have Samsung 970 PRO 1TB, which is the last MLC of M.2(lol super high resell value $$$) and runs at PCIe 3.0 x4 speed. And I have THREE of them. in Z170 they were all connected to the chipset, and I ran it in RAID 0 which all bottlenecks at... 3.0 x4. So yeah, s

Using Windows as Virtual Machine on Linux
Yes, it seems today, the minimal optimal amount of RAM is 32GB, even the for DDR5 type, for gaming & other intensive computing tasks. At the same time, pricing has been insane, I was one of those who bought both 32 & 64GB 6000 M/T kits of the latest when prices dropped, well before Micron exited the

I'm scared to switch my desktop PC to Linux.
My main PC can run up to 192GB (I believe), but it’s an AM5 MB (X670E) and running 64GB of RAM in a 32GB x2 configuration (recommended by AMD to achieve DDR5-6000 M/T). If not mistaken, when all four slots are populated, it can’t run at that speed. But it more than meets my needs & fortunately I pur
