Are these good keyboards ?

No, they are bottom of the line boards with proprietary firmware and no virtues whatsoever. Get this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/RK-ROYAL-KLUDGE-Mechanical-Ultra-Compact/dp/B089GN2KBT It's not a premium board, but it has QMK firmware, which also not only makes it the most adaptable board in the pr

Just finished new build!

Did you know Royal Kludge is in violation of QMK's open source license? This means they are effectively stealing the hard work of the volunteers that maintain QMK for their own financial gain. You can read more about it or see other vendors who violate QMK's license here: https://docs.qmk.fm/license

Analysis Paralysis; Pick a keyboard for me wizards

Royal Kludge keyboards are absolute garbage. I had one but the number row stopped working after like a year. There are also numerous reports of their wireless keyboard batteries exploding. To top it all off, they violate the QMK license by failing to provide their source code on request.

Any plans for a K6 QMK?

The Q4 is tray mount so won't have the loose switch issues. South facing, though. North-facing options: Skyloong GK61 QMK/VIA * ($54) Royal Kludge RK61 QMK/VIA * ($40) The GK61 is GH60-compatible (proof) and has a default layout with mod/tap arrows. The RK61 has a crappy default layout but this fixes

please help a keyboard newbie to buy correctly

Get a QMK board so you don't get "helpful" keyboard software preventing you from changing "system" keys. Particularly for a 60% board because you can use mod-tap to create a virtual arrow cluster. Any QMK board has 1k polling. Faster than that doesn't really help. For a magnetic board the best optio

need help buying a keyboard

Can't disagree with this. These are both decent board options. The default layout on the GK61, with the mod-tap arrows, is better, but the GK61's gasket mount is a bit more premium. I don't think the prebuilt switch options are that much of a big deal, especially on a 60% board where a 70-pack of sw

Soooo how bad are royal kludge boards really?

LOL These are all Legacy boards so they use the terrible legacy Royal Kludge driver, so long as you don't care too much about key positions and the function layer and using the keyboard on anything but a Windows box, it's probably not an issue, but if you ever want to do anything interesting in the

Are there any vendors selling reliable, QMK-compliant, entry-level keyboards?

The Royal Kludge RK61 is in the main QMK repo and cheap. The standard layout is kind of screwed up but since it's qmk it can be fixed, and the firmware builds reliably... if you have a look in my GitHub I've got a vial port for it. It's a 60% of course but with mod-tap arrows you shouldn't have any

Baby's first decent keyboard

For 200 Euros there are quite a lot of good options. I would avoid companies like Razer, they tend to be overpriced and... less than ideal design. Looking at the prices in Amazon Ireland, I see your point. It seems to be dominated by Attack Shark, which is a terrible company that's actively defraudi
