Gear recommendations from pro baristas? [$3000]
I'm gonna use a drummer/chef analogy, because I love to play drums and I love to cook. I can cook on a set of trash cans... whether we're talking 'bout playing drums or cooking a dinner. Sure, I have $5000 of pans, about half of which are copper... but all these tools do is make me more efficient. I

Oysters, Ribeye and Cheesecake because why not?!
Rancilio Silvia M v6, which I retrofitted myself with a PID kit. I previously had a V3 that lasted about 10-11 years until the heating element on the boiler died (it was the version where the heating element is cast into the boiler, not replaceable). It has fewer features than the Classika but even

It's finally here!
That's exactly why I bought it. I put it in my coffee station next to a Rancilio Silvia V6 E, and I think they'll last a lifetime.

DeLonghi died, need new machine. [$600]
At that budget, you should look for a well-maintained Rancilio Silvia V6 (year 2020 and beyond) or a new Gaggia Classic Pro.

Considering a purchase …
In my particular case, I got the Rancilio Pack (Rancilio Silvia V6 + Rancilio Stile) and it showed a huge positive impact to my espresso. The first time I used the Steam wand I was (first) afraid and (then) surprised. It is quite similar to a first-line coffee shop machine. Not sure if you will be a

I own both a Gaggimate Pro Gaggia Classic and a Lelit Bianca – here's what surprised me
I deliberately chose the Rancilio Silvia v6 which came pre modded by a UK distributor to try to get the best of both worlds. It's a beast of a machine with all the intelligence and ease of Gaggimate Pro. I don't think I could have picked a better machine for me at that price point.

Pulling a shot is slow, takes a long time, no pressure? A lot of water returning to reservoir. What’s wrong?
me esta pasando igual con la pro. Esto jamas me paso con la rancilio silvia v6. Lo que he visto es que queda atrapado el cafe entre las dos mallas del filtro que va en el cabezal y es muy dificil quitarlo de ahi.

Espresso machine options
I’m in Europe so I’m not sure about pricing in your region. But here you’d be in the Rancilio Silvia, Lelit Victoria or Quickmill 3000 range. I’ve got the Rancilio Silvia (v6) myself and it’s really bare bones but an absolute tank. Heavy, square, bare metal and only 3 buttons. Could last a lifetime
