Best Way to Consolidate Multiple QNAP NAS Systems
moral of the story - you will either spend the money - or you will spend the money. This happens to everyone. You start with a little crappy QNAP, and then slowly move to a better and better QNAP (TVS-h874) - but it's still not big enough. And today, in May 2026, you are going to spend a LOT of mone

NAS needed for small team growing into office.
any 8 bay or 12 bay NAS will give you 1000 MB/sec over 10G ethernet to the client computers. I will describe the NAS in a moment. You need a 10G switch. Your four Mac Studio 10G ethernet ports get plugged into the 10G switch, and your NAS 10G port gets plugged into the 10G switch. A QNAP QSW-M3216R-

Building shared storage for a small post house NAS + Mimiq
nothing wrong with AVID Nexis. Nothing wrong with EditShare. Nothing wrong with Facilis Hub. Nothing wrong with OWC Jellyfish, nothing wrong with Studio Network Solutions EVO. You want a QNAP or a Synology for 3 editors with Adobe Premiere or AVID Media Computer - you get an EIGHT DRIVE NAS. I don't

Freelance Producer NAS build questions
that is correct. I personally prefer QNAP. A QNAP TVS-h874 will come with 32 Gig of RAM. It costs $2199. You need a 10G card - the QNAP QXG-10G1T is $139. You need two internal M.2 NVMe drives (500 gig Samsung EVO 980) to run the QuTS (ZFS) operating system - these are $79 each. And now if you only

Need to upgrade from TVS-873e (?)
the TVS-h874 is a super reliable unit. When you receive it, you simply downgrade the firmware to QTS using QFinder Pro. Then power down, pop in your drives, and you are back in business. Here is a TVS-h874 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1729142-REG/qnap_tvs_h874_i5_32g_us_8_bay_nas_intel_core_i5_12400.h

Is a TVS-h874 still viable today being that it's 2.5 years old since release?
if you feel that "they are going to come out with a new model in January 2026 - so I am going to wait" - well, if in fact they do that - then I assure you that they will release a NEWER model in January 2028 - so you will get screwed anyway. Technology always becomes outdated. There is no way to "fu

Considering upgrade from TS-431eU to TS-855eU - will it help my transfer speeds to TS-832eU?
Hello - A QNAP TS-855eu street price is $1599. It doesn't even come with 10G ports. Screw the rack mount model, if you are looking to save money. Buy a QNAP TVS-h874. $2199. Buy a QNAP QXG-10G2T 10G card - $269. Put in two 500 gig M.2 NVMe drives as Storage Pool 1 - $79 each. Now put in your eight 1

QNAP NAS with full Plex Hardware Transcoding
Bob, Thanks! I enjoy your posts a lot. I just read a very long thread from you on the QNAP board. Sorry I conflated my transcoding comments. That is strictly for viewing 4k MP4 or HD videos usually on the local LAN via a media player or perhaps offsite via plex. If on local LAN using a media player

Advice sought: what's best in Qnap 8-12 bay and sweet spot in 20tb+ drives in price/TB?
the TS-832PX-4G is the worst QNAP. What is important to you - price or performance ? You can't have both. You want a great 8 drive NAS from QNAP ? TVS-h874. $2200. Where are earth are you seeing 20TB drives for $250 each. Have you done a google search recently. You show me 20 TB drives that are new

dual-port PCI-E 10GbE network card recommendations
For anyone looking, Intel X540-T2 likely works on ALL Linux based NAS. The reason for this is that manufacturers are lazy, they contract out their network cards using Intel chips. Intel network card drivers are highly supported in Linux. Why spend money to have someone write a driver? That's dumb. Q
