Qnap TS-464 Questions

Ok, this is my crack at answering your questions. I have a TS-464 and a TVS-h1688x and love them both for the different purposes I have them for. Keep in mind that these are my experiences, but I did run them through google gemini for formatting and grammar before posting them. Question: Can the 8GB

Home NAS Advice

I agree with others who say that you might not want the top-spec or the latest model for the home usage, but to make it a bit future-proof and quite capable for tasks like video transcoding and (potentially) running more workloads than just a pictures and file server in the future, I would recommend

First DIY NAS Build – Need Advice!

Assuming To is terabytes(?) I'd recommend a QNAP NAS. I have the QNAP TS-464 8GB RAM 4-Bay NAS that I've upgraded to 32GB. Currently 4x8TB NAS-grade drives in RAID-5 array (~20-22TB of usable space). 2x1TB NAS grade M.2 SSDs used for Read/Write caching. I think after drives and everything I was in t

NAS for torrent, emby, photos backup recommendation

On this subredddit you are mostly going to get enthusiasts who like building their own NAS- so TrueNAS and UGREEN. I just replaced a DS214 and my use cases are the same as yours. I initially was just going to get another synology but heard about their new HDD policy so this caused me to reflect on h

TS-464 more than 16gig memory?

I've just updated TS-464 to 64Gb - replaced the original Transcend 2666 8Gb SODIMM module with 2x32Gb. I used Integral 64GB (2x 32GB) DDR4 RAM 3200MHz SODIMM Laptop Notebook MacBook Memory Module Kit. Here you can find the exact Specs. The procedure is relatively straightforward and took 5 minutes.

4 Bay 6camaras & home assistant via docker

TS-464 sounds like it would fit. Use the 4 spinning disks (RAID5) for your camera and data storage and the two NVMe (RAID1) for your docker or VM needs. If you upgrade the RAM you could even run QuTS with ZFS on that NAS.

First home server

While personally this is a hard price tag to swallow, I know you wanted to buy once, without having to tinker with hardware. Anyways, if I had to do it, this is what I would do today. Start with a NAS. This is a backbone for your storage and provides large disk size and redundancy. Something like qn

Is there anything worth replacing my TS-453D with?

I have been eyeing the TS 464, because I have the same requirements: The TS-464 features the newer Intel® Celeron® N5095/N5105 quad-core 2.0 GHz (burst to 2.9 GHz) CPU with integrated UHD Graphics—an upgrade over the TS-453D’s Celeron® J4125 quad-core 2.0 GHz (burst to 2.7 GHz) processor. It also do

Cloud storage solution

It'a a QNAP TS-464 4-Bay NAS with 8GB of RAM. I'm not sure what the model number is, but they have a 4GB variant of the same device. I'd recommend getting that (cheaper) and just buying additional RAM. Make sure it has the same processor as the 464-8GB model though. You'll want additional RAM at som

Looking for Media Server Setup Guidance

Do you think the QNAP TS-464 makes more sense? I can have the server and the storage on this NAS. I can upgrade the RAM and has 4 bays for if I need additional storage. Slightly higher cost than the Synology DS423 but those upgrades allow me have the server on the NAS and not having to buy the mini
