What are the best adjustable dumbbells for a home gym?
I went with powerblock pro EXPs up to 80 lbs. Here was my criteria that helped me make my decision: -durability: I was concerned about the mechanism breaking as well as if I dropped the dumbbell (something I never do, but you never know if you have an injury or accident). Powerblocks have probably t

What are the best adjustable dumbbells for a home gym?
powerblocks are an excellent value - especially the older Powerblock EXPs with the red markings. extremely quick to adjust weights and feel tough as hell. it doesn’t have any mechanical moving parts that can break.

Adjustable dumbbells
I have 2 sets of powerblocks -an old set that goes up to 33 lbs per hand and a newer one that goes up to 90 lbs per hand. They’re easy to change, sturdy and reliable and have great customer service. I’ve never even heard of the other brands you mentioned. I have never been unable to do a move with p

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of January 30, 2026
Powerblock EXPs routinely go on sale on Woot and can save you a few hundred when looking at the 90lb set. The PROs might be more resistant to dropping and overall wear, but for that price, you're almost better off going with a premium brand like Nuobells, Rep Pepins, or even Ironmaster. In my experi

"Ironmaster/Eisenlink dumbbells are too slow when you want to change the weight"
I bought the Powerblock EXP back in the Covid dayz but these are the all metal ones and I don't think they even sell them anymore, they changed to putting that plastic coating on them. But still Powerblocks would probably be the fastest change of weight plates at 10 LB increments, although as you mi

safely using dumbells alone
I would absolutely not drop powerblocks. I use Eisenlinks and you could throw those off a roof and be fine. I wouldn't trust powerblocks to be dropped more than a couple inches.

Individual dumbbells or all in one?
A friend of mine invited me over for a workout and had the powerblocks pro 50. I was sceptical at first but they are well constructed and sturdy pieces of equipment. I was surprised. He had the kettle bell attachment and the ez bar attachment. I know they are a little pricey... But I would say if yo

Vintage powerblocks!
You can get the color indicators for the weights from Powerblock directly if you talk to support. I've fixed up a few sets of Powerblocks myself (haven't posted the pics here though) and that is very easy to rectify if you want the indicators. Folks have posted sticker files with the weight indicati

Powerblock handles
I still choose my Powerblocks for most exercises due to the liking the handle more often over my hex ergo set and my AOC Pilates (octagon style Eisenlinks). I would say the Powerblock brand knurl handle feels like a good set of commercial dumbbells. My AOCs have a 35.5mm handle diameter and feels a
