I have an array of 6x4tb and 6x2tb sata SSDs in my storage server. I can copy at full speed for 50GB files on both arrays, but I think you are on the right track here. The CS900 is a DRAMless SSD, and there are reports that the 2tb and 4tb versions have massive speed drops once the drive hits 50% fu

I have a pure SSD server. your drive choice is terrible for a use case like a storage/remote server. the CS900 has no DRAM, so there is no write cache. the initial speed is because the PC on the receiving end is using its system ram as a cache, and once that fills up, you are back to the actual writ

yea, the PNY CS900 is actually a low quality cheap DRAMless SSD, so, it might actually be whats causing it. They are known to drop off terribly once they hit 50% full, and they have issues maintaining decent write speeds over long writes.

the 870 EVO is in a 6 drive array on an HBA in HBA mode, using windows storage spaces for a total of 17.5tb of usable space. I have not updated the drive firmware on my server for fear of bricking them because of recent windows and samsung firmware issues. the PNY CS900 is the receiving end in OPs c

If the laptop has already 2.5" HDD in it, then you should be able to swap it for as sata 2.5" SSD like you found. Just be aware you need some USB to SATA adapter, for the data transfer / OS clone from HDD to SSD, if you don't have any other means for that. Ps. Do mind that CS900 like to fail, it's c

Any ssd works on an RGH system so if speed is what you want go with 870 evo. The Lexar doesn’t have DRAM and is crippled when transferring hundreds of gigabytes at once. It took my DRAM-less PNY CS900 5-6 hours to transfer 300 GB from my HDD 😳

SSD’s fail too had mine fail in my phat ps4 could have been the fact besides heat that it didn’t have internal cache memory and self trim onboard that is kinda important with PS4 OS , replaced it was a PNY cs900 1tb with a Samsung 870 evo and its trouble free and faster because it can maintain itsel

My super cheap SSD, when being extremely stressed, would kill its transfer rates for like 3 minutes every 4 minutes. So it would go from SSD speeds to like 10mb/s. Was my PNY cs900 drive.

I have the same drives and the CS900 write speeds are horrible, so that's probably your issue.
