These hp laptops from that generation are so nice to work on. I would suggest that you get the t7400 instead, it's like 8-10% less powerful but waaaay cheaper than the t7600, that's the CPU I use on my Compaq nc8430 and it runs pretty great. I see that your model has intel GMA 950 integrated graphic

It’s very possible. At least that was my issue. I did try before to push harder but figured I break it and it seemed seated. I also think the format deal is key as well. I used the pny cs900 because the handful of micro sd I had were them and they worked good. Unlike this lexar one I bought on amazo

Yes, OP. Your laptop supports 2.5" SATA SSD or HDD. Both use same connectors. I would suggest you to upgrade it with a SATA SSD rather than a HDD because HDD is slower and SATA SSD is faster than HDD (~560Mb/sec). SATA SSD is slower than modern NVME, but faster than a HDD. It was the SSD. I was using a Crucial BX500 and I found another post of a guy with the same setup having the same issue. For whatever reason, the SSD is completely functional, its just not compatible with OPL. I swapped it out with a PNY CS900 and it works fine now.

Dude, you can get a PNY CS900 1TB SSD for $45 on Amazon. Don’t use an HDD as a boot drive.

For reference, you said, "500GB of RAM and 64GB of storage." Shouldn't that be, "500GB of storage and 64GB of RAM?" In any case, if it's more storage he wants, he should be able to add either an SSD or an M2 drive. I have both in my SER6 Pro. Here's a recommendation for each type. Crucial 1TB M2 dri

Switch to an SSD. I Personally have the PNY Cs900, and it is phenomenal, but also cheap!
