Petzl has not certified the Grigri for that application. Hence the giant lack in the Grigris instructions on how to use it for rope access.

Eh maybe? Rig and ID are rated as "Auto Locking". Grigri is rated as "Assisted Braking". I have no idea how the grillon is rated when off of it's included rope. I know in single mode they say you can go hands free without tying it off, but that is in the context of the full assembly (device + rope)
