I really like my Patagonia refugio 26 l. The one I have has a removable laptop sleeve, so it becomes very light without the laptop sleeve. You can squish it down using compression straps on the sides so that it will meet the requirements of the airline.

Hiking! My one bag (Patagonia Refugio 26L) doubles as my hiking/day pack and holds my Osprey water bladder nicely for outdoor exploring.

I've looked at: Osprey Daylite 26+6...something about it I just don't love. I know it's highly recommended. I don’t know what your budget it (these are probably too expensive if you’re looking at Jansport) but check out the Patagonia Refugio day pack 26L, and the Aer Duffle Pack. Both have a duffel front, to keep clothes seperate. The Aer in particular would be a great gym bag but it’s very expensive.

135 grams heavier than the Patagonia Refugio 26l but with less capacity and less useful features. I assume the handles and the "tech organization" pockets are the culprit for the weight discrepancy. Is there anything I missed that makes this bag stand out?
