IMHO Bellroy would be a solid choice. Judging by the weight, you are looking at the 30L version, for which the stated dimensions are 500 × 360 × 120 mm. That computes to 21.6L, not 30L. I don't have any back issues (touch wood!) and I am not tall, but just thought that it might be useful to flag the Patagonia Black Hole Pack 32L as a possible successor for your MLC30. It's about the same capacity, light weight (760g), and retains a reasonable level of style, IMHO.
