New firmwares for S5m2(x), S9 dropped

Debatable They vastly degraded the s5iix image quality with aggressive sharpening and NR post launch (firmware which can't be reversed) and later completely removed streaming functions which were heavily marketed and users specifically paid for with the s5iix over the s5ii Also every other update br

Selling my S1II after 3 months — disappointed with the image quality

I've been harping on Panasonic to fix their heavy spatial NR filtering they use on internal codecs for a long time. I noticed it starting with the S5iix on the first update in June 2023, I have a document written on it too. Unfortunately a huge downgrade after that update and it just looks very blan

Over-processed image of the S5iix / S1ii ?

By all accounts you can get a more organic image by shooting Pro-Res and Raw formats, but these come with huge file sizes. H264 and H265 file sizes are so much more reasonable for so many workflows - and I have also noticed the difference going from an S1 / S1H to an S5II. Up-voting this because its

Disappointed by s5iix videos

Lol Sony is the king of overprocessing and oversharpening... The entire reason Lumix tried doing it with the S5II, was to look more like Sony. It just sucks, because we have the S1H and S5 to compare it to, and we can see that it doesn't have to be this way.

Is there any glaring reason NOT to use a Lumix S5ii for hobbyist filmmaking?

As a filmmaker (not videographer) the last reason you should choosing a camera for is Autofocus. Just keep practicing manual, you'll get there. Mistakes when focusing manually look far nicer (even 'cinematic') than with AF which is jarring. How can you be sure the AF on the S5ii is all its chalked u

BMCC6k

I own the S5II (since February) and the Pocket 6K Gen 1 (since it came out a few years ago) + some Contax Zeiss lenses, Sigma 18-35, Helios 44M, Isco 1.8x Anamorphic Projector Lens and Sigma 24 1.4 Art Full frame for the S5II. I got the S5II as on paper it looked like an amazing hybrid camera, amazi

Is the Blackmagic 6k Full Frame worth it?

It’s 500% worth it. For me, at least. I have the Pocket 6k gen 1 since it came out years ago. The Lumix s5ii since February this year. When I got the Lumix, I wanted a photo camera that can riv the blackmagic on video. I knew I wouldn’t get quite the same image quality out of it, but i thought it’s

Is there much difference between S5 and S1II?

I have most Lumix camera and about IBIS and AF, it's true the S1II is much better. However, image quality is the most important thing for me and the S5 has much nicer fine details. In my opinion, the S1II (like the S5II) is a downgrade compared to the S5 if you don't need fast AF.There is however a

Prores raw Update

BM most likely put ProRes Raw in only the Pocket 4K because it was a very old camera and they were satisfying some contract they have with Apple. Look like a business tactic, rather than them earnestly wanted to provide new features. With the S5IIX, I doubt they’re going to add internal raw (or to U

Anybody switched yet?

I switched over to Lumix S5ii due to the image being way better and regret it. I totally grass is greener’d and miss Sony autofocus real bad. I’m going to pick up another Sony and use the Lumix as a b-cam, as well as a handheld b-roll camera because the IBIS is so frickin good.
