S9 Owners (or critics): How Much More Would You Have Paid for EVF, Mechanical Shutter, and Hot Shoe?

The S9 feels like Panasonic’s shot at Fuji’s X100 VI, with a touch of Leica in its design. It is clearly aimed at people who are new to the Panasonic S line, at travelers who want something light, at street photographers who need discretion, and at influencers who want portability without losing qua

Thoughts on selling G9 and “upgrading” to a S1?

S1 OG? Or S1ii/e? Second vote for the g9ii. I've mostly used the newer bodies and GH line. I know people like the G9... I also got one for a steal ($650 w Leica 12-60 new) after the g9ii. I couldn't get used to the g9. The g9ii is an incredible camera. I like it more than my full frame S1R / S5. I o

Official Gear Purchasing and Troubleshooting Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! June 16, 2025

I already did. While the A7III and S5/S5D are on the same level (only the A7 series has better AF than the S5), the A7C vs the S9 is a bit more difficult. A7RIII (or even its predecessor A7RII) vs S1R end up like this: A7RIII (or its predecessor) pros: compact 42MP E mount offers far more options an

Should I trade in my MFT gear for an S1Rii for event photography/videography?

Me and my son were walking through Prague for street photography, he with his Sony A7C II and I with the S1R II. After about 4 hours I had to change the battery while on his camera it was still at 80%. The camera gets hot when constantly taking pictures, but it will not overheat on you. I only recor

What should I upgrade first?

I have both cameras and a Lumix S1R. The difference between the OMD M1 Mk Ii and my new OM-1 let me think about to get rid of the full frame stuff. It's more then a little difference.

Andrew Reid predicts Panasonic is soft-quitting the market for professional photographers and videographers

I think the big 3 have started cannibalizing the features that make lumix stand out and decreased the value proposition for most buyers. Established pros have no incentive to switch to a cheaper, lesser known brand and lose money on their current equipment. People just starting out are facing a hist

Would you still choose Lumix if starting today?

that's funny but there are legitimate reasons. Lumix's highest end stills camera is the S1Rii, which has excellent image quality, but still faces issues with a studio workflow and sensor readout speeds. now that capture one tethering is supported on the newer models lumix has made up some ground on
