Sigma 60-600 or Panasonic 100-500 for handheld wildlife

I got the 100-500 recently, so I can weigh in on its use and why I bought it over others. Before my Lumix (s1IIe) I had a setup with 600mm max focal range. I went back through a bunch of my birding photos to see what range I was using most, and to my surprise they were often 350~450mm. So in my case

S1IIe - who is considering buying it?

I think the problem with the s1iie was clear from the leaks even before the official announcement; it's "just" a suped up s5iix.The s5ii/x has been on the market for a couple of years which means that it's had a couple of years' worth of price reductions. You can buy one in the UK for less than £2k

Why doesn't the Nikon Z6III match the Panasonic S1II dynamic range

Some people are pointing to the dual gain output in Dynamic Range Boost mode, but that’s not it. Even with that disabled, the S1II has a good stop or so on the Z6III. I’m not an expert, but I believe this comes down to two things. S1II is taking longer to read the sensor. I’ve heard the S1II uses a

Worried about Panasonic at the International Broadcast Conference

Panasonic released 3 cameras this year, S1IIR, S1II and S1IIE. we cannot hope they release cameras every month. The cameras we have now are pretty amazing, also the L mount is growing. Don’t worry Panasonic is doing the things the right way.

Colors and Image of the S1II compared to S1H, S1R2 and S5II

I thought the G9II and/or the GH7 also use an in-house design? I agree though. The costs are exceptionally high, but Panasonic could just as easily copy the Sony strategy and buy in massive bulk: create a top-end sensor, put it in a very expensive camera, and then spend the next four years reusing i

Lumix S1iie vs S5iix

I just, (as of yesterday,) purchased the S5IIX directly from Panasonic. It is currently on sale for about $2100 for the kit with the 20-60mm lens. I used the welcome 10% off email on top of the sale that is already going on, and to my surprise, the 10% came off the original price and not the discoun

Prores raw Update

BM most likely put ProRes Raw in only the Pocket 4K because it was a very old camera and they were satisfying some contract they have with Apple. Look like a business tactic, rather than them earnestly wanted to provide new features. With the S5IIX, I doubt they’re going to add internal raw (or to U

Panasonic S1IIE for 2000€ good deal for video and photo work?

I have yet to buy this camera, but from what I can tell, everyone is sleeping on it pretty hard. The narrative is that it’s an S5II with all the new features and upgrades of the S1RII/S1II, like false color, internal RAW, cripples stabilization, and the new body design. However it seems that’s not t

Lumix S1ii *Partially* Stacked Sensor ??

You're missing the point of the S1II by conflating it with the whole lineup. Panasonic made the best mirrorless video camera on the market by using the partially stacked sensor. It is better for video than the Z8 by a fair margin. If you use one, you will see. You're right about the S1iie and the S1

Can you correct rolling shutter when using stabilization?

I've some answers. Most LUMIX users will be like, it's got such great IBIS internally, why would I seek out the solutions to provide additional stabilization other than perhaps a gimbal? The irony is that yes it's possible to improve further in post production with some prep and additional hardware.
