Camera Question
I got the Varicam LT in 2017, I was and still am primarily doing client work, but I also do indie narrative projects whenever I can. While I've used/rented Sony FX6/9 and minis when a client requested, I absolutely still use the LT if it's up to me and in 2025 I shot a feature as well as a pilot on

Any thoughts about the “next” Lumix S1H II ? Worth the wait ?
I think the S1-II is a very good camera but it is not reliable enough for professional work when the camera has to run over a longer time, probably in hot weather and in direct sunlight. Lumix has to bring out the S1H-II that is better designed for this kind of work. Most people don't need this but

This weekend marks the 6 year anniversary of the launch of the Lumix S1H
I support you appreciation. What Panasonic offered with its range of S1 FF cameras was outstanding. But as far as I remember ….. you miss a decade 🤪 The original Panasonic LUMIX S1H was announced for a fall 2019 release and was officially launched in the market around that time. The announcement its

Why doesn't the Nikon Z6III match the Panasonic S1II dynamic range
Some people are pointing to the dual gain output in Dynamic Range Boost mode, but that’s not it. Even with that disabled, the S1II has a good stop or so on the Z6III. I’m not an expert, but I believe this comes down to two things. S1II is taking longer to read the sensor. I’ve heard the S1II uses a

The dilemma of choosing Lumix S9 or Sony A7c/A7cii for photographs and video
Not sure how you think the S9 has better low light performance than the other two. They're all in the same ballpark. Don't buy into the myth about megapixels. A 61MP FF is better than a 12 MP in low light when it comes to photos. https://youtu.be/gAYXFwBsKQ0?si=eN7HTxr5Hg-0xKN6 Same with video. High

S9 Owners (or critics): How Much More Would You Have Paid for EVF, Mechanical Shutter, and Hot Shoe?
The S9 feels like Panasonic’s shot at Fuji’s X100 VI, with a touch of Leica in its design. It is clearly aimed at people who are new to the Panasonic S line, at travelers who want something light, at street photographers who need discretion, and at influencers who want portability without losing qua

Any thoughts about the “next” Lumix S1H II ? Worth the wait ?
I suspect they are waiting for the right sensor to become available. People like to rattle off specs, but if there’s no sensor out there on the market capable of it, Panasonic cannot make the camera. They need Sony to produce a sensor for them, and I’m not sure there’s a good option right now. I mea

Would you still choose Lumix if starting today?
I have both Sony and Lumix setups. Long term I'm going to invest in L mount. I am primarily a video shooter. Blackmagic going with L mount is what made me decide that L mount was way to go. In addition Sigma lenses are native on L mount vs third party on Sony. So you can use teleconverters on sigma

Real official Panasonic LUMIX interview at CP+ 2026 by CineD. No successor to the S1H on the horizon. Panasonic says: "Panasonic have finally developed their best high-end model for photo and video: the S1 II. After six years, we have finally reached our goal."
The Reddit post/article I linked to was direct quotes from Toshiyuki Tsumura, Executive Vice President, Director in the Imaging Solution Business Division at Panasonic. The article has also been edited with information from Lumix (as noted at the bottom of the article). He’s essentially confirmed th

Lumix S1H in 2025 - 1000EUR for used one is a steal?
I recently bought the Panasonic S1H Brand New on sale for $4400 Canadian or about $3150 US/2700 Euros/2400 GBP/4800 AUD including tax. This included a LUMIX S 85mm/1.8 lens & a 3 year warranty. The pre tax sale price of just the camera body alone was $2900 Canadian before tax or $2100 USD/1800 Euros
