Yes, the original s5 has better image quality. The reason Panasonic kept going for contrast based af is because they didn’t want the compromises in iq when using phase detect. The s1h has the same sensor. It is still the best image i think, especially the 12 bit raw.

I went from the Gh5 to the S1H II and have loved it. I kept my Gh5 and glass for crash camera stuff now. I don’t think you can go wrong with staying with GH series or moving to full frame in the Panasonic line. I will say my photo taking experience on my S1H II has far surpassed anything i’ve taken
