The FarPoint 55 will count as 2 bags for Delta (USA): 40L qualifies as carry-on, and the 15L as a personal item. The 15L is actually smaller than would be permitted as a personal item, so you are giving up a bit of packing room if that is important - it worked fine for us, traveling as a couple (wif

Tips for Bags to Buy
I'm not really a onebagger but I fake it when it serves me. Traveling with my daughter when she was younger is a great example. For you and your husband: Osprey Farpoint/Fairview 40 each. Probably. Given the kind of trip this is, you could also do something like the REI Trail 40 and packing cubes. I

3 week trip to Peru, needing a 2nd bag.
I love Osprey’s modular systems like farpoint/fairview. The versatility of being able to zip them up and check it as a larger piece or carry it on as a carry-on/hand luggage separately is great. Also for situations like yours you can leave the smaller one for overnight trips or leave the larger one

One Bag with Kids??
If a lot of your daughter’s kit is spread among other bags then you can pull it off! But that means bigger bags than your mid-sized Allpa. Bigger bags are more comfortable with a waist belt to carry the load, and you can add a monkey bag for food… like the Osprey Farpoint/Fairview 55, which is a 40L

Indefinite 32L One Bag Travel - 27+ countries over the next 13ish months with a single backpack
With a 15kg load I would want a pack with a load transferring harness and proper torso length fit. The Nebula is 11.42” deep, contributing to poor ergonomics as well as carry on compliance issues. The Osprey Farpoint/Fairview 40 leads the list (and on sale at REI). Carry-on backpacks that transfer l

How many bags do you have and what do you use them for?
My latest purchase is a Matador SEG28, which I recently took to Japan for 2 weeks (along with the Matador Freefly packable duffel and Uniqlo drawstring shoulder bag — both packed in the SEG28). This bag really fits my travel style and needs and I’m happy with it for lighter travel. Its size complies

first time international travel
Osprey Farpoint/Fairview 40 is very usable and nicely fits the maximum size for a carryon bag.

Carry-on + Backpack vs. True One-Bag: How do you handle bulky shoes and daily carry?
Like the Osprey Farpoint/Fairview maybe? The accessory backpack attaches to to the main pack so you can have both 1 bag and/or 2 bags, depending on the situation. The main body is 40L, just like the black hole.

Backpack to invest in
50L is actually a solid sweet spot for a 3–4 week interrail trip, especially if you pack light. It’s versatile enough for future travels too. Osprey is a great choice (look at the Farpoint/Fairview line), and you can usually find them around your budget if you catch a sale or go slightly older model

Alternative to Arc'teryx Konseal 15
The old version of Osprey Farpoint 15 (still available in some places) is pretty similar to the Konseal. It’s 15 liters, one big opening on top, not too much going on with the outside except two meshed bottle holders. It’s Osprey, so the quality is good and there’s a lifetime warranty. I recently pu
