Hi, I work in an IP rating testing lab. IPX1 is laughable, but the reason it's rated like this is most likely only because they didn't bother with a higher tier certification. The OM options he listed are 2x crop factor. The OM5 is much lighter and half the size of the r7. The OM1 is about the same size as the r7. OM systems also have the best weather sealing around. If I were buying a birding specific system I’d choose OM above all else. Me specifically I’d love to have

Hey I have an OM3 and it was my first camera in the MFT ecosystem. Paired it with the excellent 12-40 f2.8 for really good weather sealing. I've been out in really heavy snow storms in Canada and Scandinavian rain without issues. Added the 40-150 f2.8 for action and now I'm looking at the 60mm macro

My thought after reading some replies is that I probably pick up the om5. Then I think whats probably going to happen is I also will pick up an om1 mk whatever in a couple years. I guess it depends how much I like the system. To dip my toes in and have a "cheap" camera to take around with me I think

Your setup is weather sealed, you should be fine. Just keep the lens on at all times unless in a controlled environment or clear weather.
