The IMX270 and IMX 272 based OM-D E-M1/5 cameras, (E-M1 II/III, E-M5 III, and OM-5 I/II) have phase detection autofocus, but don't have subject detection, so you still have to really hone in on the subject with a single focus point selected. The E-M1 X, uses the same sensor and AF system, but has an

Thanks for the feedback ! The E-M1iii sounds like the most logical approach to me if money if not too much of a concern, and it indeed isn't (I have a decent amount of savings, I have a decent salary and I would be sitting on a healthy little bit of cash once I sell what I need to sell). Worst case

If your budget allows it you are probably better off with even the original E-M5, and 100% for sure WAY better off with the E-M5 Mark II over the E-M10 Mark II. Heck, I would take the E-M5 Mark II over a brand new E-M10 Mark IV. The difference in features and capability of the E-M5 series over the E

also worth mentionning that the E-M5 mark I is the only OM-D body that uses the quite old TruPic VI processor. So no Live composite, no Pixel shift, slower AF, no Wi-Fi. It also has an older sensor so no electronic shutter either. On the other hand, the E-M5 mark II is the cheapest Olympus body to h

It depends on your budget and expectations. While the E-M5 and E-M10 Mark II are capable cameras on their own, one is 14 years old and the other uses 11-year-old technology. The sensors and much of the technology are way behind current standards, even by M43 standards. The usable ISO on these old ca

Yeah, no. Unbalanced isn't a thing here. Try a 75-300 mm on an E-M10 Mark II. That's unbalanced. An OM-5 has good ergonomics. I bought my G95 for that reason. Similar in size and handling to the Olympus 5-series.

I was using the E-M10 iv for a bit and the autofocus had real problems in low contrast situations. Very very very hard to get it to correctly focus on birds that blend in or birds in flight. When it worked, it was great. The AF became so frustrating I upgraded to the OM-1 Mark ii a month ago and hav

This past summer I bought both a used E-M1 Mark ii and a E-M10 Mark ii. Both have great build quality and are good at what they set out to do, but I think I will be selling the latter. While lighter and more handy for hiking or just walking around, I find its menu system too limiting. It is targeted

No OM-5 is closer to the e-M10 iii as it has Trupic IX. E-M5 iii is TruePic Viii and closer to EM1 ii in output/features. But better color profile than the E-M1iii and E-Mi X that share the same processor. Hopefully some AF improvements will be in the Mark ii. Even my Fujifilm X-T1 AF is better than
