I was a Sony user (NEX-5N > a6000 > A7 ii) up until last winter when I made the switch to m43 with an E-M1 ii. This winter I've started shooting birds with the OM System 100-400 ii, something which I would never have done with Sony because as you're well aware the lenses are simply too big & too exp

For the under £400 category the E-M1 Mark II is absolutely unbeatable. Metal construction, proper rated weather sealing, 4k video, dual card slots (one UHS-II), 5Gbps USB C, mic & headphone sockets. Many of the newer bodies from Olympus/OM System inexplicably have USB 2 data rates & 1080 video. The

I don't have an OM-3 but i use peak design capture clip on my E-M1 mark ii, and the plate on the bottom of the camera is a much comfier place for my wrist strap than either of the built in loops.

The best value is clearly the E-M1 mark II. You get 18fps shooting with C-AF, Pre-Capture and a sensor fast enough that you can shoot electronic shutter without too much fear. The Autofocus is accurate and pretty reliable, if not completely devoid of automation when it comes to subject detection. Th

The E-M1 mark II is a GREAT camera (I would know, I use two of them), but if you're mostly a hobbyist and you mostly use the better-in-every-way OM-1.1, honestly I don't think there is much reason to keep the E-M1.2 around. Yes, it's great. Yes, it's a great backup body to the OM-1. But maybe you'd

The OM-5 Mark II has most of the features, and the same sensor, as the OM-D E-M1 Mark III, but in a smaller, lighter package. It runs around $1200 for the body. The OM-3 has most of the features and the same sensor as the OM-1 in a slightly larger and heavier package. It runs around $1700 for the bo

OM1 ii and OM3 are probably the best when using C-AF with subject detection. I upgraded from the em5 iii (basically the same AF as the em1 ii) to the OM3 and I'm getting way more keepers. That being said, the OM1 i, EM1 iii, and OM5 i/ii all have better face detect than the em1 ii. I find that you h

Personally, I’d recommended considering the E-M1 Mark II or Mark III, E-M5 Mark III, OM-5, DC-G9, DC-G95, or DC-G97. If I were buying now in that price range and coming from the GX800 I would probably go for the OM-5. That little powerhouse is very portable for all that it offers and has 7.5 stops o

Olympus/OM Systems. They're the only brand with real IP ratings and you could rinse them under a tap or take a shower with them. Body: OM-1 or E-M1 mark ii/iii depending on what features you want or need. Lenses kits: 8-25mm f4, 40-150mm f4 12-100mm f4 Feel free to add on lenses if you want. 1 is go

Nice setup! Mine will be on table and I plan to do more extreme macro like shooting microchips or higher resolution mosaics. Looking at your pictures doesn't seem like vibration is much of a issue at that magnification. I'm building mine on granite slap with vibration dampening but now I'm thinking
