New MFT compacts?
Ok why won't you buy pre 2020 gear? I for one would like to know If you are looking for post 2020 new gear, then Olympus OM-5 mk 1 or 2 is the way to go as another commenter said. It doesn't get any smaller than that.

Beginner/Hobbyist Question: Good shallow depth of field lens for close up shots?
ngl for MFT under $500, the Mitakon 25mm f/0.95 is your best bet for that dreamy bokeh. also check the 7artisans 25mm f/1.8 if you want cheaper. the secret with MFT is adapting vintage glass - an Olympus OM 50mm f/1.4 with a cheap adapter gives you that soft, imperfect look Greg Fraser uses. just kn

Lens decision challenge
First check out Justin Mott on YouTube he is a pro with extensive time with Leicas but always uses Sony for client paid work. https://www.youtube.com/@AskMOTT/videos Iād recommend renting a Sony A1 with a 16-35mm GM and then maybe a 85mm for portraits. As a super light backup camera the Olympus OM5
