Also, if they are in the US (at least, not sure about other places), Nintendo will still as of last month replace a Joy-Con with stick drift for free, even if it's out of warranty. They won't do that for a Switch Lite.

You could open it and see if you see anything obvious like a problem with the capacitive pad underneath, the Joycon 1s as long as you're gentle are super easy to repair in my experience, swapped out joysticks for quite a few different ones and it was no trouble and the buttons were on the same level
