Talk me out of a potential mistake.........
The best camera is the one you have with you or will bring with you. So I don’t blame you there. Personally, I’ve been using Nikon for 15+ years. I’ll stick with it. I have a D800 and a Z50ii and am looking to add a Z8 to replace the D800. I feel a Z8 and Z50ii will cover my needs. The ultra compact

Z50ii
Was very happy with my z50 ii. Liked it more than my old d500 due to smaller size and af tracking—image quality was slightly better but possibly due to the more accurate focus. Either something is wrong with your z50 ii or there’s a bit of user error with the new mirrorless system. I had a d90, d700

Z50ii vs Z5ii
No, in normal shooting cases in good lighting with people who know how to use the cameras, you won't be able to know which shots are from either sensor without looking for clues, like resolution, EXIF data etc. Some here will violently disagree with that statement and some "professionals" will tell

Is Ricoh GR just better?
GRs are super portable, so you are inclined to take it to more places, take more photos and create more chances to take good picture. However, these are niche cameras with dogshit video quality, fairly slow fixed prime lens and mediocre at best autofocus - old Nikon D750 blows it out of the water an

Daily carry camera.
Love the Z50 II with 16-50 pancake. I use it for work as my webcam, and take it for hikes all the time.

Nikon D500 vs Nikon Z50 II for wildlife photography?
Own both here. D500 = tank with one of Nikon’s best DSLR AF systems. Z50II = little powerhouse with Nikon’s best mirrorless AF system but less horsepower behind it. Used properly the D500 is still almost a decade later a comparison point against which most wildlife photographers test other cameras.

More megapixels or more focal length
If you want to mainly do wildlife, Id go for the Z50ii instead of the Z7. The Z7 is a first gen, high-res Z thats more suitable for landscape or portrait, and its tracking autofocus lacks behind even last gen DSLRs like the D500. The Z50ii has precapture, EXPEED7 AF with dedicated birding modes, and

Planning to upgrade from D5300 to Z5 II
I've already commented on this in another post, so ill be copying from there. I made the jump from DSLR to mirrorless about 6 years ago. Owned the D3400 with a bunch of DX lenses - 70-300mm DX, Tokina11-16mm DX, and an FX 50mm/1.8. Z50 was brand new and Z5 wouldn't release till 2 years later. Going

D500 or Z50ii
I at one point had a Z50II and a D500. I kept the Z50II. There are certainly ways in which the D500 is better. Dual card slots, better viewfinder performance at the highest frame rates, better body and weather sealing. However, in some edge use case scenarios the Z50II is better to actually capable
