It strongly depends on your autofocus needs. Since you didn't mention stuff like wildlife, sports, racing or other fast paced situations, the Z7II will probably be better due to the higher MP count. If you think about starting some wildlife or sports, get the Z5II. It has the newer processor, so the

You already know the Z5 is not optimal. I upgraded from Z7ii to Z8 and the difference was enormous. Yours is even further behind. Obviously I haven’t used your combination myself but for small, fast moving birds in flight, the body makes a huge difference. No doubt in my mind, it’s just not capable

Amateur here... I own both bodies so here's my $0.02: for portraits and landscape you don't need to crop much. 45 MP really shines in wildlife photography where you often just can't get enough reach and cropping is your only option. A big difference between the two is that the AF in the Z6iii blows

What do you shoot? My Z7ii was great for landscape and macro photography and other slow or non moving subjects. The AF is not as bad as some people say but it’s clearly behind the current (excellent) models. I sold it and got a Z8 but the Z7ii is under rated in my opinion.

This is the way. The z6ii and z7ii CAN do Subject tracking. But I bet little fido is just too quick!

1.5x isn't necessarily how it works when comparing sensor sizes if the megapixels are vastly different due to pixel pitches. The z7ii has a pixel pitch of 4.35 um while the z50ii has a pixel pitch of 4.22 um. For reference the z6iii has a pixel pitch of 5.94 um. This translates into a pixel on the z

Z5II and Zf are similar enough that their choice is between better ergonomics and cooler looks. Z7II is if you want 45MP and don't care at all about autofocus. I'd say Z7II + 24-120 F4 makes more sense here, as I don't see any AF or aperture hungry subjects in your list

Personally I'd go for the Z5II just for the AF, especially for using F mount lenses with the FTZ as the difference is even bigger there. But I think your use cases are the only use cases that the Z7II may at least be as good if not better. So it depends on whether you're looking to branch out from y

Z7ii was never excellent at subject tracking and never will be that said it doesn’t mean you can’t, Set single point af and af-c put the focus point on the dog and as long as you keep the shutter half pressed (preferably bbf) and your panning is good you should be able to capture movement without an

If you are thinking about going with the Z6II or Z7II I would recommend looking at the Z6 and Z7 too. The used prices of these are ridiculuous and nikon didn't really improve the af going to second generation significantly. That makes the Z6, Z7 a very good deal if you can live with one memory card.
