Time to upgrade monitors…want better mid range detail
Neumann KH150 + MA1 ; slightly over budget but quality and imo by far the best in this price range/class. Will obviously not sound like ATC, only ATCs will - the neumanns are more linear. Edit: I have the KH310 + KH750 + MA1. I’ve been to many (high end) studios and my setup punches far above its we

Why aren’t studio monitors more prominent if they’re more accurate?
Just googling, the frequency response curves of everyone I’ve looked at aren’t anything approaching accurate. I’m sure the ones in professional studios are different. Usually the price of audiophile speakers is paying for cases that don’t resonate, coils/cones/crossovers that don’t ring, and cone ma

I’m a bedroom mixer and am forced to use Headphones based off of my living situation, and need advice on low end mixing
Post one of your mixes or DM it to me on Instagram @samchoatemusic and I’ll type up some notes for you. I mix on Neumann KH310’s in a well treated room.

Can you guess the style of music I make from this picture?
i'd do some simple, basic acoustic treatment first. then, and only then, look at better monitors than a7x. a good, linear listening enviroment is a combo of good acoustic and good monitoring. throwing money at monitoring only - is a waste. and most frequent amateur mistake. to keep it affordable, i'

Any tips for exceptional low-end mixing?
Neumann kh310 flush mounted (on concrete pillars) with a kh750 subwoofer. I don’t like subs on most systems, but this works great in my room. Calibrated using Neumann software and then double checked with REW and a UBIK-1 I’ve got up to 3 ft of insulation as absorption on each wall, with a minimum o

Genelec 8341 vs Neumann KH150, what would be your choice for upgrading a small studio?
These are both good speakers. Almost certainly neither of them will be the limiting factor in your work at this time. Almost certainly the problems with the room will be quite larger than any problems with either speaker. That said, if you're looking at 8341s, the right comp is probably the KH310. A

Upgrading to a more serious pair of monitors
Like I said, I already explained this. I've mostly mixed EDM genres with a lot of bottom-end. There isn't much below 40hz in any genre that is useful. And I never high-pass the entire mix. Just the kick and sub after saturation. Kick and sub are the only things that occupy sub frequencies. Most DNB

Sitting in the sweet spot.
very cool. mine replaced a much more expensive Neumann kh310 pair and sub in my very small (9'x9') room. they sound fantastic in that setting too. paired with some very old Naim gear exceeded expectations. imaging on an album like "Urban Bushmen" put the Neumanns into storage. : p

Analog Studio Monitors?
Who would hype up a 2-way speaker design with a 6.5” woofer as “mid-field”? Oh right, a shop would. Even a 8” Neumann KH 310, a fantastic monitor, is useless for mid-field due to the sealed design. That said, yes, prices in the US are terrible these days due to the import tariffs.

Mixing my first album and I can only use headphones. I’m having issues with low end.
I am SO with you - I've had everything over the decades, my own treated room with Neumann KH 310 speakers, calibration systems including https://earthworksaudio.com/measurement-microphones/m30/ , and nothing has come close to the great results I'm getting with VSX - https://stevenslateaudio.com/en/v
