Recommendations on WiFi mesh for old building?

I use TP-Link Deco units, and they work fine. A mate has Netgear Orbi units and they work well too in his old house but the units were too large for my liking. The Deco app is pretty good and has the usual features you would expect - guest wifi, device blocking etc and you can connect wired devices

Hey /r/Sysadmin! What do you use for your home router? 2026 Edition

Switched from netgate pfsense to firewalla gold plus. It has just enough levers and knobs to keep my happy and all the tools I need to support the family from anywhere. Wireguard works flawless when I'm away from home. I'm using netgear orbi 963 (6E) in AP mode behind that. Pretty stable setup even

Netgear just EOL'd my Orbi AC3000 – any recommendations?

I got the same email. In reality, I think Netgear stopped upgrading the firmware for that router a few years ago. I have 4 Orbi units so even with the 20% discount I'm looking at around $800 and I'm hesitant to replace a system that is working well. So what I did is change my Orbi from the router mo

Plz recommend between Orbi 870, 970 or Eero Max 7

No, in fact wired back-haul from main to satellite is always recommended (faster connection, less latency, doesn't cause congestion or additional WiFi networks to be spawned etc), your mesh WiFi will still work if it's using WiFi back-haul, but you need to be careful with positioning of the satellit

Recommendations or a simple home setup

Ok....so you want a Wifi router with a couple of ethernet connections. Any one of several newer Tp-link or netgear ones will do. The rub will be how much bandwidth you need/want for the wifi and how far does it need to connect (via Wifi) A full fledged leading edge mesh 7 system with multiple satell

Homekit Device Mass Unrespoinsiveness

The consensus would be UniFi but it can get expensive real quick; if you are not into networking can be a bit of a learning curve to buy what you need as well. I have personally used Netgear Orbi and Linksys Velop with success in terms of HomeKit being rock solid. I started out with Linksys but with

Need a new router.

My Netgear Orbi mesh works great, just as good or better than the years-old Orbi it replaced. That said, when it kicks the bucket, I’ll probably look at Ubiquiti
