Did I get decent deal?
Not a bad price/bad deal @ all on a Minisforum UM880 Plus. The GMKtec NucBox K8 Plus, while $10 more, does provide native SFF-8612 i4 OCuLink without sacrificing the second M.2 NVMe slot, possibly making it a "wash".

Mini PC for Gaming?
Buy the aoostar gt37 if you want just a mini pc or buy something cheaper like a minisforum um880 (which has an Oculink port) and spend the rest on an egpu, docking station and psu if you want a portable productivity device that can double as a gaming pc when you’re at home. Personally i’m going for

GMKTec K8 Plus equivalent? Was dead set on this unit before an absolutely awful experience with GMKTec, will never buy from them again.

Benefits of bazzite
I've recently switched to bazzite from Windows 2 weeks ago. The process was fairly easy, coming from somebody who isn't very knowledgeable. I got it running on a minisforum UM880 plus. I definitely have way better performance using bazzite than I did with Windows, which was my main reason for switch

8845hs amd mini pc will be fine for you. Aoostar gem12, beelink ser8, gmktec k8 plus or minisforum UM880 Pro.

How’s the GEEKOM A8 Mini PC (Ryzen 9 8945HS) with PCSX2, XEMU, RPCS3, and Xenia emulation?
I have minisforum UM880 Pro 8845hs similar to 8945hs. With pcsx2 I can play 1440p minimum. With some games I can play 4k. Didn't tried others. But I don't recommend geekom models. They don't have second fan on ram and ssd like others. It gets hot. Look for aoostar gem 10-12, beelink ser8, minisforum
