Minisforum AI X1 pro with DEG1 Docking station with 5080 what's your take on it?
It looks like you're aiming for a high-end eGPU setup, and there are some important considerations to make—starting with the GPU choice. The RTX 5080, while offering solid base performance, feels underwhelming for its price. With only 16GB of VRAM, its long-term value is questionable, especially whe

Anyone have experience with these? Are they any good?
This is exactly what I was going for. I initially had the atomman g7 but the 7600m was just to weak so i was going to get the new one which imo is better than these because its a laptop 4070/5070 vs desktop 5060 which is also upgradeable for less money…..I sold the G7 and the g1 kept being sold out…

Gaming laptop died. BSOD. Want to reuse SODIM and SSD - opinion and feedback please
You almost had it but ms-a1 yes you need a desktop cpu or you get the one that comes with 8700g. The A1 also has oculink so the sky is the limit after that. I just did a build with left over ssd, nvme, psu. Grabbed used 9800x3d and 9070xt with the deg being $100. $1300 and I have beast of a machine

Using an eGPU with MiniSForum MS-A2 & RTX 4060
Not the OP, but I run a similar (ish) setup myself; Minisforum MS-A1, Ryzen 8700g, 64GB DDR5, 2x2TB + 2x1TB NVMe drives. Deg1 dock with a 3080Ti + Corsair SF750W platinum PSU. I went this route as I had multiple PC's in my household and I just wanted a single jack of all trades machine. I travel fai

Best GPU Setup for Local LLM on Minisforum MS-S1 MAX? Internal vs eGPU Debate
Well do you mean adding a external graphic card ? Because it already has a very good integrated GPU and 128MB RAM so you can run large 80B / 128B LLM models. Also most important against adding any external GPU means its has limited VRAM ! However, using the integrated GPU that is already in minisfor

Which one is better overall?
The swift go is truly better than the aspire. Faster wifi speed, oled display, longer battery life thanks to oled display + no dgpu. At gaming, some reviews say u5 225h w/ arc 130t is faster than r7 8700g w/ radeon 780m (minisforum ms-a1) so of course it's faster than that ultrabook rtx2050 35w max

Alternative to MS-A1
There's only a handful of AM5 minis out there: Lenovo's M75q Gen 5, Minisforum's MS-A1 and Asrock's Deskmeet X600, Deskmini X600 and Deskmini X600/USB4. The Deskmeet has a x16 PCIe slot and is really more of an SFF unit at 8L. The Deskmini X600/USB4 has USB4 replacing the VGA of the X600 at the back

MINI PC FOR CLOUD GAMING
It looks like you've listed good choices; I'd vote for one with an Oculink port, because you could then use an eGPU enclosure with it in the future (that's full-nerd I admit). It looks like the GMKTec M7 has one. The Minisforum MS-A1 is another that has it; that's what I use for a Proxmox host, and

I want to replace my current PC with mini PC + Oculink dock - does it make any sense in my usecase?
I have a Minisforum MS-A1 with a Ryzen 7 8700G with an AOOSTAR AG01 dock, and I rotate between various GPUs, including an RX9070XT, and it works wonders. There's a small bandwidth penalty when using OCuLink, but most games are not bandwidth limited. At worst, loading times can be slightly longer, bu

SOHO File/Web/DB Server
Yeah that can be quite difficult. The Minisforum MS-S1 Max has dual 10Gbit and the Ryzen 9 AI Max+ 395. If you're comfortable building a SFF system yourself, the Minisforum BD790i X3D motherboard has a PCIe slot that'll allow you to fit any networking card you like. You may also want to check out th
