New setup questions: Dedicate machine? How much to invest into AI detections?

The good news is: You don't need a big huge AI rig to run object detection. There is a good section on hardware in the documentation: https://docs.frigate.video/frigate/hardware#server The exact models are everchanging, so it's perpetually outdated, but the general direction stays the same. From canceling iCloud to building a homelab and planning to dig my own hole

Backup has been mentioned. I would not recommend you a ryzen-based system, based on the support for iGPU/NPUs on Intel Systems. E.g. I have selected a Minisforum M1 Pro 125H (with Core 5 Ultra 125H) for my homelab and I'm very happy. The iGPU supports transcoding (Jellyfin), AI (Immich, Frigate) and

Performance difference between scrypted standalone vs home assistant plug-in.

I'm on my second install of Scrypted with nvr. With 6x Reolink cameras. I can't say enough about how much I love Scrypted. I tried Frigate after using Scrypted and immediately switched back. Run it as a VM in Proxmox if you can. I haven't done anything with Home kit integration. First pass was as HA

What hardware do you run frigate on?

Just switched to a MINISFORUM M1 Pro-125H with Intel Core Ultra 5 125H and I love it. Running yolo9 medium 320x320 with 11-15ms on the Arc iGPU with only 4 cameras. Running frigate in docker, and on the same host a VM with home assistant and many other services via docker.

[Request] ~800€ compact PC build in Portugal | web browsing, Plex server, light gaming

A Mini PC with a modern Intel CPU with QuickSync (e.g., Minisforum M1 Pro-125H fits in your budget. According to some tests, it's more than enough for LoL, so you might choose a weaker CPU/iGPU. If you want to store media on the PC itself, you need a larger drive.

Best QUIET MiniPC under $500?

I just bought another Minisforum, Model M1 Pro-125H. I bought the barebones variety ($383) since I already had the memory and SSD. I have not put it through any real stress tests, but doing daily work, it barely gets warm and I have not heard the fan yet. I seems to be working flawlessly and I have

Non-Mac Mini PC recs

M4 Mac Mini would be perfect for this but understandable. I’d recommend a Mini PC with either a new-ish AMD chip with RDNA3 (or better) or Intel chip with Arc graphics. Minisforum M1 Pro 125H has a Intel Core Ultra 5 125H and this $719 model includes 512GB SSD and 32GB RAM. They have similar AMD var
